Window Cleaning
Window cleaning for high-rise buildings, office blocks, and some homes can be a difficult and hazardous task without the right equipment and knowledge. In South Africa, the water fed pole system is the preferred multi-storey window washing method for many reasons.
What is the Water Fed Pole system?
The Water Fed Pole is a system that uses water de-ionising tanks and a pole capable of reaching up to five stories to clean windows. It uses regular tap water from a building’s outside water hook-up and runs it through a purification system which removes all the minerals, chemicals and other pollutants from the water. Once purified, the water is piped into an extension pole with a brush head.
How does purified water clean windows?

The Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is zero

Windows are rinsed and scrubbed with purified water

De-ionised water breaks the surface tension on the glass, releasing dirt particles

Windows are rinsed again, ensuring that dirt particles rinse down, and with zero TDS in the water, the windows “dry-clean”
How is water purified?

The De-ionising Ion-exchange (DI) method
This is a chemical method whereby water is pumped through a cylinder, which is filled with ion-exchanger resin. Water is softened, as all minerals (salts) are removed from it.

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) method
This is a physical method whereby water is pushed through a semi permeable membrane via pressure in an attempt to lower the mineral concentration. With adequate pressure, only the water’s molecules – and not the dissolved particles fit through the membrane. Under the prevailing conditions, a water purity of approximately 95% is achieved, sufficient to get streak-free results during glass cleaning. An additional DI filter for subsequent cleaning is needed only in case of excessive water hardness.
The benefits of the Water Fed Pole System (WFP System)

Work made easier
- Panes need only be scrubbed with brush
- No chemicals (unless windows have not been cleaned for a long time)
- No squeegee

Enormous time savings
- Safe, flexible operation from the ground with pole
- Reduced set-up time (lifting of platform, or ladder, and other materials not required)

Increased Daily Efficiency
- Because of direct operations from the ground, up to 2-4 times as many window panes are cleaned per hour than with conventional cleaning, depending on the building features

Increased Safety
- Windows up to a height of 20m (5 storeys) can be cleaned from the ground.
- No need for ladders, platforms, scaffolding

Increased Safety
- Windows up to a height of 20m (5 storeys) can be cleaned from the ground.
- No need for ladders, platforms, scaffolding

Where can the WFP System be used?
- Windows
- Facades
- Vinyl Awnings / Tops
- Signs
- Overhead Walkways
- Aluminium / Granite Cladding
- Skylights
- And more
